Update: she squirmed a lot and there were a few whispered questions, but otherwise a success. I’m very glad this will be her first “grown up” movie. It’s great.

We’re going to see Project Hail Mary today and I’d like to thank Andy Weir for telling a story about a teacher going to space with a cute alien so my 7yr old would say “Ok I’ll watch that” to a 2.5 hour movie.

Today I learned Apple dropped firewire support in OS 26 and Linux plans to drop it in 2029. I still have several miniDV cameras that are fun to record on. I guess I can continue with the old iBook I've been using to pull the video, but is till a bummer. The aesthetic isn't as strong as my Sony FD cameras, but recording in 4:3 is a fun challenge.
